KEYS TO BEING AN INTERNATIONAL MODEL
PRINCE BREFO It’s not easy making it as an international model from this side of the world. One of my biggest challenges was breaking through the stereotypes and barriers formed up by the system . I had to constantly fight in an industry where the odds were stacked against me, but I overcame these by staying true to my identity and working hard to stand out. Consistency, resilience, and authenticity. I stayed focused on improving my craft and embracing who I am. I also surrounded myself with a strong support system that believed in my potential, which helped me stay grounded through tough times.
I always carry a piece of Ghana with me, whether it's through my personal style, the bold colors, or the rich storytelling in our fabrics and patterns. My pride in being Ghanaian is reflected in how I present myself on any platform.Believe in your uniqueness, don’t compromise who you are. The industry is tough, but persistence pays off. Stay prepared, keep learning, and when the right opportunity comes, be ready to give it your all.
I would say walking for Off-White at their ‘BLACK BY POPULAR DEMAND’ Show was definitely a highlight for me. It felt surreal being part of such a prestigious show of a brand created by our very own (Virgil Abloh) who has Ghanaian heritage, and now lead by the genius IB Kamara. but knowing that I was representing my country on that stage alongside my brothers B Mensah, Razak Salifou, Ottawa, Black Sherif, Cherif Douamba & Momo made it all the more special.
